Man dies after being hit by train in Barton County

Authorities are investigating a train-pedestrian death in southwest Missouri. They have identified the man, but are not releasing his name until family has been notified.

On Tuesday, March 12th, 2019 at 5:46 pm, the Barton County Dispatch received a call from Kansas City Southern Railroad reporting a person had been hit by a train.

It happened about a half mile south of Burgess, Missouri.

The Barton County Sheriff's Office, Liberal Fire Department and the coroner's office responded to the railroad where it crosses underneath P Highway. The deceased man was about half mile south of P Highway along the tracks.

The investigation is ongoing.
