Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Twin Lakes Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Viva Maedeen Wilson was called home to be with Jesus; Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at her home in Clinton at the age of 99. She was born October 16, 1919 in Clinton, MO to Forrest and Bessie Avery. Viva later was united in marriage to Junior Orlando Wilson and together had their one and only son, Kermit Elliot Wilson.
Viva attended The Lincoln School for blacks in Clinton, Missouri. Later Viva worked for Dr. Richard King and the O'Dell family as their housekeeper. Viva was also well known for her press and curl hairstyles. Viva attended 2nd Baptist Church where she was member of the Dorcas Mission Circle, a Sunday School teacher, and sang alto in the choir. Later Viva transitioned onto the Mother Board and became leader of the Prayer Warrior Team at Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Viva spent the latter days of her walk as a member of the New Beginings Baptist Church. Viva was a prayer warrior and her greatest love was for Jesus, our Lord and savior. Viva was an advent lover of music and all sports including Nascar and Kyle Bush. However, the KC Royals and Chicago Cubs were her 2 favorite baseball teams. On Viva's 95th birthday she received a card from The White House signed by President Barrack Obama and First Lady Michelle stating "You have witnessed great milestones in our Nation's history and your life represents an important part of the American story. We hope you are blessed with many more joyful years."
Viva is now reunited with her husband, Junior Orlando Wilson, her son, Kermit E. Wilson, her sisters, Genevive Avery and Mary (Avery) White, her four brothers, James, Walter, William, and Herman Avery Sr., her nephew, Herman Avery Jr., her grandson, Jeffrey Wilson, and her parents, Forrest and Bessie Avery.
Viva is survived by her two nieces, Wanda (White) Wiggins of Little Elm, TX and Marcia (White) Love of Blue Springs, MO two nephews, Estel White Jr. of Bethesda, MD and Glynn Avery of Kansas City, MO. Along with 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
