A letter from the Clinton Police Chief

Well, a couple days have passed since the General Revenue Tax Ballot issue was decided and the smoke has cleared. I’ve reflected on this matter and felt a need to reach out on behalf of the CPD to reassure folks.

I am grateful to live in a country where the citizens are given the opportunity to go to the polls, or not, and express their opinion on how their government is run. I’m equally grateful to live and work in a community that at the end of the day, after spirited debate and discussion on issues which affect us and visitors passing through, we can still come together in friendship and mutual support and respect each other’s opinions and our right to express it.

The love, respect and support, you have shown the CPD following our shared tragedies will never be measured by a vote. We know this. Your expectations for the service provided by the CPD continue to be the same high expectations of service we provided before those tragic events and after, before ballot issues and more.

Thank you, the citizens, for allowing us the opportunity to serve you!
