BCSO: Uptick in local thefts

On April 26, 2019 a Deputy responded to County Road 7508 in Hume to take a report of a cattle theft. The victim stated that since February she had lost around 5 calves and believes that someone is stealing them. The calves were black in color and were about a month old when they went missing. Each calf had a value of $350.00.

On April 27, 2019 a Deputy took a report of stolen saddles from a farm located on BB highway in Butler, MO. The victim advised the Deputy he observed a vehicle leaving his driveway and followed the vehicle to Ballard where it then took off at a high rate of speed. The victim then returned to the residence and noticed a window was forced open and 4 saddles were missing. The saddles included 2 Mexico saddles valued at $250.00 each a Hereford saddle worth $400.00 and a pony saddle worth $50.00.


The Deputy was later advised that 2 of the saddles were for sale on Facebook. An area canvass was conducted and Deputies believe they were able to locate the residence where the pictures of the saddles were taken.

On April 28, 2019 a Deputy responded to a residence on Olive street in Rich Hill, MO to take a report of a burglary. The victim stated that when he came home from work he noticed that the lock on his bedroom door had been picked and his window was open. His PS4, T.V. and 50 to 60 games were missing.

The investigations are ongoing.
