BHS TAUGHT US HOW
On May 25, 2019
This year marks the 132nd anniversary of the Butler High School Alumni Association to be held May 25, 2019. We are spotlighting the Vocational Programs offered at BHS and recognizing that the teachers in each of these programs are BHS grads: Ag-Charles Reece class of 2002; FACS-Robin Longworth Colburn class of 1992; and Business- Carmen Kauffman Behringer class of 1985 and Angie Beard Kauffman class of 1992. In keeping with the theme “BHS Taught Us How,” Carmen Behringer, Angie Kauffman, and Charles Reece representing the Vocational Programs will be Parade Marshalls for the 2019 Parade. Please review the following itinerary, so that you won't miss out on any of the activities!

Breakfast Buffet:
A full breakfast buffet will be available at The Union on the southwest corner of the Butler square at a cost of $8.25. No reservations are needed—pay at The Union when you get there. If you know you are going to the buffet, please let us know as The Union would like to have an approximate number but you can still come eat even without letting anyone know. Eat breakfast together, visit, and watch the parade at 10:00 am. Again this year—The Union is keeping the buffet going until 11:00 am for those who want to eat after watching the parade.
Parade:
All past, present and future BHS graduating classes and/or BHS organizations and sports teams are encouraged to join in the parade. Larry Anderson will be in charge of the parade this year. Any questions regarding the parade should be directed to President Annette Anderson at 660-679-3269 --she will relay them to Larry. In case of inclement weather, the foyer of BHS auditorium on South Fulton Street will be open for visiting. NOTE: You may toss candy along the parade route.
Visiting:
The foyer of the auditorium will be open at 10:45 am for visiting. In case of rain, the foyer will open at 10:00 am. As Alumni expenses keep going up, there will be a donation box available in the foyer to help offset Alumni expenses.
BHS Alumni Association Dues -- $7.00 per graduate annually:
Remember, dues are a critical part of our financial health. Paying your dues makes you a member in good standing and is required for your vote to count. Dues may be paid at registration or sent prior to the meeting to: Butler Alumni Association, PO Box 402, Butler, MO 64730.
Butler R-V School Scholarship:
Butler graduates entering the education field are eligible for this scholarship. If you wish to contribute a tax-deductible donation, please make your check payable to Butler RV Scholarship Fund. We will forward your donation.
Alumni Directory:
An updated Alumni Directory was printed in May, 2017. The next directory will be published in 2020. There are a few of the 2017 directories available now on a first come-first serve basis. The cost of directories is $12.00 each if picked up at the 2019 meeting or $15.00 per book if delivered. You may order a 2017 directory in advance of the Alumni meeting or take a chance there will be some left at the meeting. Keeping the records up to date is very important for the smooth running of our association. PLEASE: remember us when you move or if you change your e-mail address so we can include you in Alumni notifications. We are using e-mails to notify as many people as we can to save on postage. If you have e-mail, please let me know so I can add your information to our database. Updates may be sent to BHS Alumni, PO Box 402, Butler, MO 64730; e-mailed to bhs_alumni_assoc@yahoo.com; mailed to Gwen Tarvin at 1510 SW County Road 1067, Butler, MO 64730; or call Gwen at 660-679-3285.
Business Meeting and Program:
The 132nd BHS Alumni Business Meeting will begin at noon in the BHS Auditorium. Please be sure to register in the foyer, pay your dues, pick up a program, purchase a directory, and make donations before going into the auditorium. We will have 2017 directories available until they are gone. This year we are hoping to stir some interest in our BHS Alumni meeting by adding a very short program. We will carry forward the theme by having the Ag, the FAC, and the Business Departments highlight their programs. We still believe we will be through and adjourned by 1:00 pm.
We hope you will join us for the 132nd Butler High School Alumni Association celebration on May 25, 2019. We are the oldest active high school alumni association west of the Mississippi and are striving to keep it attractive to both those who graduated long ago and those graduating today. If you cannot attend, we welcome any information you would like to share with your classmates. Letters will be posted for viewing.
Sincerely,
BHS 2019 Alumni Officers
Gwen Tarvin, Secretary/Treasurer
