Charlie grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School Class of 1982. He worked at Norman Sheet Metal in Nevada for a number of years and then at Newton Burial Park for more than 20 years where he was currently the cemetery sexton. He was an avid hunter and loved to fish. Charlie was a Christian and also a longtime member of the Nevada Elks Lodge.
In addition to his wife Teresa, he is survived by two sons, Charlie McWherter, Jr. and his wife, Hailey, Nevada, and Ben McWherter, Nevada; two grandchildren, Ryker and Parker; two brothers, Dennis McWherter and his wife Laura, Independence, MO, Stan McWherter and his wife Joyce, Independence, KS; sister, Helen Sweet and her husband Allen, Davenport, FL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law,, Harry Harbeck, VA, John Harbeck, VA, Chris Harbeck, VA, Patrick Harbeck, GA, John Stocker and his wife Bernadette, UT, Shirley McWherter, TX, Mary Bollier, AZ, Bernadine Oakes, NV, and Linda Hall, TX, Kitty Jackson, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
