Louis attended school in Pleasant Hill. He left school early to join the war effort proudly serving in the United States Navy during World War II. Dr. Eklund, in Pleasant Hill, later helped him earn his high school diploma.
On April 7, 1950, he was united in marriage to Alice Marie Neill in Pleasant Hill
Louis was employed as a Chemical Blender for DuPont at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. He was a Life Member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #3118, Pleasant Hill. He had also been a Boy Scout Leader in Pleasant Hill.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eugene McCarty; and one sister Eloise Bradley.
He is survived by his wife Alice of Pleasant Hill; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Vickie McCarty of Pleasant Hill; his daughter and son-in-law, Tricia and Doug Lansdale of Independence; three grandchildren, Bryon Gillespie of Grain Valley, John (and Amy) Berry and Jeremy Berry, both of Pleasant Hill; 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Willadene Kinnaman of Apple Valley, Minnesota; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday April, 18, 2019, at the Stanley-Dickey Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, Missouri. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated. A Final Salute ceremony was conducted by Mr. Chris Hummel. Graveside military services and interment was the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the United States Navy and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard. The V.F.W. Post members served as casket bearers.
Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the V.F.W. Service Officers fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
