Maurita Faye Snow Carter, 99 years old, was born in Bates County near Ballard, Missouri on September 30, 1919 to Fayette and Martha (Mattie) Spears Snow. She was welcomed into the family by her older siblings, Merle Dale, Gilbert Ronald and Jaunita Belle. She attended grade school at Hackler School and graduated from Ballard High School in 1937. In 1939 she went to Kansas City School of Cosmetology. Following graduation, Maurita worked as a beautician in Warrensburg for 6 months. She then came to Clinton in the fall of 1940 where she worked for 46 years. Most of those years she owned her own business and worked in her home beauty shop.

Maurita and Billie Gene Carter were united in marriage on February 5, 1944. Bill was in the service and was a POW in Germany during WWII. Maurita kept a scrapbook of correspondence of the time Bill was missing until his return to the United States. Following Bill's discharge, they settled in Clinton where they resided for many years rearing 4 children and caring for Maurita's mother. They were long time active member of the First Christian Church of Clinton. Following their retirement they spent the winter in Arizona until Bill's death in 1998. Maurita continued to live in the 2-story family home for several years, finally moving into a smaller 1-story duplex. When it was no longer feasible for her to live alone, she moved to her daughter and son-in-law's, Karen and Jim, home until failing health forced her to move to Appleton City Manor where she died peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2019.

Maurita was preceded in death by an infant brother, her parents, husband, and grandson, Brad Carter, a great-granddaughter, Kimberly Carter, and a great-grandson, Kaleb Swanson.

Maurita is survived by her children, Marilyn Nold (Paul), Montrose, Missouri, Karen Munsterman (Jim), Montrose, Missouri, Ron Carter (Brenda), Hermitage, Missouri and Stacey Carter (Barbara), Springfield, Missouri, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Dorothy Spain, Windsor, Missouri and brother-in-law, CB Carter (Norma), Clinton, Missouri and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton, Missouri.
