Some years later he began a career as an over-the-road trucker, until the last few years when he began hauling grain for Alan Cox, until his retirement. Verdon enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially fishing. One hobby he dearly loved was gardening. Verdon and his wife Linda spent many long hours planting, cultivating, and harvesting wonderful vegetables from their garden, which they sold at local farmer’s markets. Apart from these things, he was an incredibly hard worker, who always found the time to help anyone that needed it. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Rex and Agnes (Morton) Smith.
Verdon is survived by his wife, Linda Smith of the Butler area; his children: Josh (Heather) Smith, Vida Smith, Dana (Booker) Cox; four grandchildren; along with many other family and good friends.
No public service is planned for Mr. Smith.
