Maggie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond “Fatman” Garrett. She loved Fatman so much that she married him twice. Maggie firmly believed that a house is not a home without a dog, and that Yorkies are far superior to any other dog. Maggie leaves behind Lola, an 11 year old Yorkshire Terrier and Opie, a 13 year old Peekachoo. Opie and Lola were Maggie’s pride and joy. However, she never forgot the puppies who came before them: Midget, Sophie, Ida May, Rachel and Hannah. She will be excited to be reunited with them and Fatman. Also preceding Maggie in death are her siblings, Betty (Smothers) Mayfield, William Franklin Bohrn and Thomas Leroy Bohrn.
Maggie loved life and lived it to the fullest. She loved cruising around town in her yellow Volkswagen Beetle that she named Barfy Lu. She would go anywhere to meet a friend for lunch, so long as she didn’t have to drive on the highway, or at night, or in the rain. Maggie was always accessorized with lots of bracelets, rings, and earrings, but she never wore socks. Maggie never met a dog that she didn’t instantly love, so naturally, her favorite jewelry featured Yorkies. Even her Volkswagen was well accessorized, with eye lashes around the headlights, because if they make lashes for a Volkswagen, you should definitely own them. She loved shopping on QVC. Everything in Maggie’s house is decorated in her favorite colors of pink, purple and pea green, including the kitchen counters and the treadmill. There are pictures of those that she loved, framed in every room of her house: Fatman, her puppies, her momma, her nieces and nephews, and her best friend, Ilana.
Maggie dearly loved her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She was a bright light in their lives and was larger in life. She thought that they were all absolutely wonderful, and they felt the same about her. Maggie might have called herself Maggie, but they all called her Aunt Marfie, and she was the most wonderful Aunt Marfie ever.
