Car crashed into house after police pursuit in Henry County

On Sunday, August 25, 2019 around 11:00 p.m. Deputy Tyler Sands attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding. 

The vehicle failed to yield to the emergency vehicle and continued to travel eastbound on Highway 52. 

Upon entering Calhoun, the vehicle lost control on a curve, over corrected and struck an occupied house. The driver, Tyler Reed, age 21, Clinton was transported by ambulance with serious injuries. 

The occupant of the home was not injured. Reed was driving on a suspended license and is on probation for a drug related conviction. The vehicle was also found to be stolen from the Kansas City area on or about August 24, 2019 and had been pursued by the Missouri Highway Patrol on that same day in Cass County. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the traffic crash in Calhoun assisted by Cpl. Swindell and Deputy Oaks. “We are thankful that the occupant of the home was not injured nor were any of our law enforcement personnel”. Sheriff Oberkrom said
