Fatal house fire in Clinton

At 2:00 am this morning, Clinton Fire Fighters we’re dispatched to 510 East Louise Street on a reported structure fire.

The on duty shift consisting of 4 personnel, as well as Deputy Chief Mark Manuel, responded to the structure finding a significant amount of fire showing from the from of the residence. A second alarm was issued for additional personnel to respond to the scene.

Information was provided to fire personnel by neighbors that a male lived at the residence and may still be inside. Fire crews were unable to make entry into the home due to the only two entry points being consumed in fire.

After the fire was quickly darkened, a rescue team entered the structure in an attempt to locate any persons inside the home. During their search, the team located an adult victim, deceased in a bedroom.

After the fire was completely extinguished, fire officers requested assistance from the Missouri State Fire Marshals Office in investigating the fire. After the investigation, it was determined that an electrical short in a power strip, located in the living room of the home, started the fire. Henry County Coroner, Dain Sisk, responded to the scene to remove the body of the deceased victim. Fire members were on scene for approximately 5 hours.

Agencies assisting fire personnel on scene were Golden Valley Hospital Ambulance, Clinton Police Department, KCP&L, MO State Fire Marshals Office, and Henry County Coroner Dain Sisk.
