At 9:58am today the Clinton Fire Department was dispatched to 315 North Fourth Street for a reported fire on the back porch of the home. The on duty crew of three personnel responded in two apparatus.
Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the structure. A second alarm was requested for additional personnel to respond to the scene for assistance.
It was determined that all occupants were out of the home so a fire attack commenced. Fire crews were able to bring the fire under control quickly, however, the home sustained significant fire damage. A family of three adults and four children were displaced as a result of the fire.
They were assisted by the American Red Cross. One female sustained minor smoke inhalation and was treated on scene by Golden Valley Hospital Ambulance personnel.
The cause of the fire was ruled to be due to electrical shorting. Fire personnel were on scene for approximately 3 hours.
