October 20-26 is Pharmacy Week

October 20-26 is Pharmacy Week, the perfect time to highlight the important role of our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians here at Bates County Memorial Hospital. Our pharmacy staff is here to make sure our patients receive the best and safest medications. Pictured from left are Angie Manning, CPhT; Mark Jones, RPh/Director of Pharmacy; Lauren Casey, PharmD; Adam Dains, PharmD; Dana Hilbus, CPhT; Janet Castrogiovanni, CPhT.

We also want to introduce our most recently hired pharmacist, Adam Dains, PharmD, to the community. In addition to working as a staff pharmacist, Adam provides medication education for patients before they are discharged, and talks with them about any questions they may have. Adam grew up in Rockville, Missouri (son of Darrell and Kim Dains) and attended high school at Appleton City. He graduated from UMKC School of Pharmacy in May, 2019. Adam is excited to be part of the BCMH team and for the opportunity to serve the community in his hometown area.

“We are very fortunate to have two advance degree pharmacists on our staff,” says BCMH Director of Pharmacy Mark Jones, RPh. “Lauren [Casey] and Adam both are PharmD graduates from UMKC. Both pharmacists are exceptional and very knowledgeable, and allow us to provide for inpatients and outpatients as well as taking care of prescription services for our employees. The goal of our department is to work with patients, nursing staff, hospitalists, and others to provide the safest, most appropriate medication therapy and treatment available to our customers.”
