Deputies arrived in the area where Harrisonville Officers had secured a perimeter after the suspect fled into a wooded area.
Officers with the assistance of Cass County Deputies and K9 Rico tracked the suspect towards Interstate 49 north of Commercial Street. Officers and K9 Rico located and apprehended the suspect hiding in a thick area of vegetation near the highway.
The subject, Rodney C. Bennett, 32, Harrisonville, was treated and released at the scene and transported to the Cass County Jail on Harrisonville warrants for Resist Arrest and Failure to Comply.
K9 Rico is one of three German Shepherd Dogs currently working for the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. “Time and time again our K9’s prove they are a valuable asset to the Sheriff’s Office and our community. We are thankful that the deputies and officers were able to work together to find this wanted subject” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.
Today, Cass County Prosecutors charged Rodney C. Bennett with First Degree Trespassing and Resisting Arrest. Bennett was issued a signature bond.
