Obituary - Sharon Sue Nelson

Sharon S. Nelson, age 82, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 in Kansas City, Missouri.

A Visitation Service will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019 followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A Burial will be held at Wills Cemetery in Peculiar, Missouri following the funeral.

Sharon was born on June 21, 1937 in Sheldon, Missouri. She was the daughter of Roy Gonterman and Jenny (Henry) Gonterman. Growing up, she was one of five children including Bill, Gilbert, Mary, and Donna. After schooling, Sharon excelled in her career as a book binder for Interstate Book. She enjoyed crafting, loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Independence, Missouri. Above all, Sharon was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan. Win or lose, she was their number one fan.

Sharon was preceded in death by her loving husband, Duane T. Nelson; parents, Roy and Jenny Gonterman; grandson, Dewayne Townsend; great granddaughter, Kaleigh B. Grime; two brothers, Bill and Gilbert Gonterman; and two sisters, Mary Beth Pittman and Donna Kay Weisley.

She is survived by her three loving children, Edgar (Chip) Townsend (Linda), Marian Wilcox (Raleigh), and Tammy Townsend (Dennis Musch); three grandsons, James Lawson (Sarah), Curtis Lawson (Ashley), and Craig Grimes; and nine great grandchildren, Cody, Abbie, Ethan, Owen, Grayson, Silas, Sterling, Makennah, and Macee.
