Confidence for a winter storm to affect the area from Sunday afternoon into Monday is increasing. Current forecast is for 3 to 5 inches north of Interstate 70 where precipitation is expected to be all snow. South of Interstate 70 snow is expected during the afternoon on Sunday however, there will be the potential for a period of freezing drizzle on Sunday evening/night to mix in before a second round of snow Sunday night into Monday. Because of the chance for ice to mix with the snow south of Interstate 70, accumulations are expected to be less with totals in the 1 to 4 inch range. This forecast will continue to evolve and be revised up to the event so please remain weather aware through the weekend. Also, consider putting together a winter weather kit and make sure cell phones are charged if travelling during this time period or if making the morning commute on Monday.
