First Degree Domestic Assault Incident In Clinton

On Monday evening, 12/16/2019, at about 7:25 p.m., Clinton Police Officers took a report of a Domestic Assault that occurred at a residence in the 300 Block of North Washington Street.

The female victim reported that she had been physically assaulted by her domestic partner, a person she lived with and shared children in common.

At some point during the assault, the suspect allegedly pointed a pistol at the victim and made a comment to the victim, as she was fleeing from the residence, to tell the police that he was armed and prepared for their arrival.

Information was then developed, as police responded to the crime scene, that a child was still inside the residence with the suspect.

A tactical response was then developed by responding officers and an extended event took place while officers attempted to contact the suspect and contain the scene.

The suspect, Nicholas McNeely, was taken into custody at 11:30 p.m. after he voluntarily exited the residence with the child, without further incident.

McNeely was arrested on a 24 hour hold for First Degree Domestic Violence and was held without bond.
