Montrose FFA attends Draft Day event

On December 10th six members of the Montrose FFA Chapter traveled to Columbia, MO to compete in the first FFA Fantasy Feedout. Over 350 FFA students from 23 chapters around the state participated in the FFA Draft Day event! There they listened to educational presentations on cattle feeding, yield and quality grades, various industry segments and much more. The students viewed live cattle from two groups including animals raised through the MFA Health Track Profitability Challenge “Top 100” Steer Feedout and by the University of Missouri. They selected the best steers available for their draft pick within the five minute time constraint. The chapter will be updated throughout the feeding period of their steers’ weight gain and performance. Final results will be revealed once the cattle are butchered in May or June.
