Those who must enter the hospital with symptoms of respiratory illness (such as coughing, congestion, and fever) are encouraged to visit the hand washing kiosks provided for use in the hospital lobbies. Please wear a mask and use the hand sanitizer to help prevent the spread of illness.
According to the CDC, the best prevention of the flu includes:
- An annual flu vaccine (6 months and older)
- Stay away from sick people
- Wash hands to reduce the spread of germs
- If you are sick with flu, stay home from work or school to prevent spreading flu to others
Most people who come down with the flu get better without needing medical care or antiviral drugs. In most cases, it is better to stay home to rest while you recover, and to avoid infecting others. Some flu cases do need medical attention and/or intervention.
BCMH is committed to patient safety and quality of care. Thank you for your cooperation in providing the best protection possible to our patients during this flu season.
