Obituary - Raymond Palmer “Pete” Hall

Raymond Palmer “Pete” Hall, 90, Nevada, MO passed away on January 28, 2020 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a brief illness. Pete was born March 14, 1929 in Osborne, KS to John W. and Mabel A. (Palmer) Hall. On May 1, 1958 he was united in marriage to Nellie Ann Swait in Nevada, MO and she survives of the home.

At age 16, Pete came to Missouri and graduated from Charity High School in Elkland, Missouri with the Class of 1947. He served in the United States Army from 1951 – 1952 in Germany during the Korean Conflict with Company G 18th Engineering C Battalion. Following his time in the service, Pete returned to Elkland for a time before coming to Vernon County in 1955. He worked in the logging business for over 30 years and then worked an additional five years at the Nevada State Hospital until his retirement. Pete was a member of the Church of God Holiness in Deerfield. He loved to read, deer hunting, taking walks with his grandson, and the outdoors.

In addition to his wife Nellie, he is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Marsh (Charles) Ft. Scott, KS, and Judy Hall, Nevada; two grandchildren, John Marsh, Ft. Scott, and Anna Marsh, Ft. Scott; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Claude Hall, and one sister, Irene Pawley, two nephews, and one niece.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor’s Rex Scholes and Bill Smith officiating. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be held at a later date at Ft. Scott National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
