Community Food Pantry of Butler Operational Changes Effective Mar. 16, 2020

Butler Food pantry board members and staff have established temporary operational changes due to the current COVID-19 pandemic as we consider the following:

• Our food pantry is vital to many residents of our county
• Most of our volunteers are in the COVID-19 higher risk category
• A great percentage of our clients are in the COVID-19 higher risk category
• We need to keep our paid staff healthy in order to keep the food pantry operational

Effective, Monday, March 16, 2020 we will temporarily switch from our current “client choice” pantry (allows clients to choose from available food items) to pre-packaged food boxes that our staff members will assemble. We have also asked our higher risk volunteers to stay home during this time.

During this time we will not allow clients admittance to our building or our working dock area.

All clients with or without appointments are asked to form a line (staying in your vehicle) along the south side of the building (where you normally load your groceries). You will drive up, stay in your vehicle and provide your name to a pantry staff member. Your grocery items will be delivered to the concrete dock area where you may then load them in your vehicle and leave so the next client may be assisted. A staff member will sign our documentation on your behalf.

We ask that you have patience with our hard working staff members and stay in your vehicles. There is also no need to panic. We have plenty of food on hand. We ask that you arrive at your normal appointment day and time.
