From the Harrisonville police department

We have been informed of a rumor going around that Harrisonville Officers have been making traffic stops and asking individuals for paperwork to determine whether their travel is essential business related. HPD officers are NOT doing this. In no way is this happening. With that said, if you are stopped you may be asked where you are going and or coming from during the traffic stop. This is normal and is asked during nearly every traffic stop conducted. Officers are NOT asking for papers or stopping people just because they’re out driving.

There is a lot of misinformation being distributed during this challenging time. We are asking that you look to government agencies as the official source of information. Stay home, protect each other, wash your hands, and we’ll get through this together.
