Linn County Kansas Residents

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) begins to have an increased impact in our communities, I would like to share the precautionary measures we are taking.

At the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, the safety of our employees and the people we serve has always been our top priority. We currently DO NOT have any issues related to the virus within our facilities, however it is our intent to take precautionary measures to help minimize the chance and protect the well-being of the inmates, officers and all staff within the facilities.

Let me assure you that law enforcement services will not be interrupted. We will continue to enforce laws, maintain security and care for inmates, as well as provide essential protection services to our courthouse, and maintain emergency communication services.

On the advice of national and local health authorities, we too will be practicing social distancing when appropriate. We have cancelled non-essential community events for the upcoming weeks out of an abundance of caution.

The following Sheriff’s Office services will experience the following changes or suspension, effective immediately:

 Front Lobby at the Linn County Sheriff’s Office will have restricted access effective Monday, March 16, 2020 until further notice
 Visitation for inmates has been suspended effective Monday, March 16, 2020. Legal visits are still permissible at this time.
 Fingerprinting services are suspended effective Monday, March 16, 2020 until further notice.

Again, the health and safety of our community is our top priority. We will continue to monitor and take precautionary measure on an as needed basis. We will also do our best to communicate any changes.

Sincerely,
Linn County Sheriff Kevin Friend
