From the desk of Bates County Coroner Greg Mullinax

On Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at approximately 2:30 PM I was called by the Butler Police Department to the 500 block of N. Havana in Butler. A person had been found deceased in a home following a well being check requested by a friend who had been unable to reach her.

The deceased is identified as Marillyn K. Nelson, age 62. Because of the amount of time which had elapsed, the cause of death could not be determined; I have scheduled an autopsy for this reason. Foul play however is not suspected. The case remains under investigation and I will provide further information when available.
