Harry P. Gicante, Sr., 76, Nevada, MO passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 at his home in Nevada following a lengthy illness. Harry was born on June 6, 1943 in Kansas City, MO to John B. and Gladys K. (Pritchett) Gicante. He was united in marriage to Jeannie Ruth Pike on March 6, 1976 in Nevada and she preceded him in death on November 25, 2011.
Harry grew up in Arkansas, lived in Jefferson City, MO for a time before moving back to Arkansas while growing up. At the age of 16, Harry moved to Kansas City, MO. and worked as an automobile mechanic. In 1971, he came to Nevada where he worked for Wysong Motors and later Texaco in Nevada. He also lived in Schell City for 10 years. Harry enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the Nevada Eagles Lodge and a past member of the Nevada Elks Lodge.
Survivors include four children, Belinda Johnson, Rich Hill, MO, Jeff Gicante, Nevada, MO, Marie Baker (Danny), Rich Hill, MO, and Toby Gicante (Diane), Nevada, MO; nine grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John Gicante, Jr., Peculiar, MO; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Jeannie, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wayne Litten; two sisters, Mary Stump, Cathleen Vandenburg; and three brothers, Pete Gicante, Bobby Gicante, and Norman Gicante.
Private graveside services will be held at Moore Cemetery on Thursday, April 23, 2020 with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced by the family at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association c/o Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
