On April 21, 1972, Officer Donald Marler and Officer Francis Wirt were shot and killed on the Historic Harrisonville Square when they were ambushed by a suspect while walking their beat.
The suspect also shot and killed Orville “Jug” Allen, a citizen, before committing suicide.
