The Bates County Museum is holding their annual This & That Sale on June 4 – 5, Thursday and Friday, from 10 am to 4 pm daily. This event marks the official opening of the Museum to the public in the wake of the Covid-19 lockdown. The sale had originally been scheduled for the last weekend of April but was postponed until now.
The Friends of the Museum sponsor this event and donations have been particularly excellent this year. Proceeds from the sale go to support the Museum. Sales are cash only and all sales are final. The public is invited to shop at the sale, located in Robertson Hall.
Covid-19 Protocols, posted on entrance doors, are as follows:
Hand Sanitizer is available at entrance and a station on the second floor. // Wearing of a mask is optional. // Social distancing is to be practiced. // Number of visitors will be limited. // Visitors are requested to sign (print) their names and provide telephone contact information, (this is not mandatory) // Robertson Hall is currently not available for rental, and finally, Staff may refuse entry to anyone exhibiting symptoms of illness.
People are encouraged to tour the Museum beginning Tuesday, June 9. Operating hours are Tue – Fri, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm and Sat, 9:30 am – 12 noon. Exhibit upgrades and design changes have been made since last season. Deep-cleaning, painting, and more, has also been done. More artifacts, along with donor and family names, are being displayed, adding yet another layer of interest to the Museum’s remarkable artifacts, stories, and collections.
The Museum canceled events originally scheduled for June and July. Decisions about an August program and a September concert will be made in coming weeks as the nation’s opening continues. Please contact the Museum if there are questions or concerns. The Museum Staff and the Board invite you to shop at the This & That Sale to support your Bates County Museum!
