Reopening Missouri: How's it going?

Mid America Live paid a visit to the Y Factor Salon in Butler today to see how the 'reopening' was going- and we found a quite complicated effort was involved to resume business this week under the Governor's Reopen Missouri program.

First, the door was locked due to the limitation on number of customers that can be inside at one time. We also noticed some little things, such as an empty magazine rack and a very clean floor around the barber chairs. Noticeably, there were sprays, wipes and cleaning solution was in full view and in several locations around the salon.

When the time was right, owner Yvette Boyles opened the door to answer some questions on exactly what the process required to reopen her business.

When asked, "Well, theres at least five pages of guidelines" she said as she revealed the document, "it includes everything from keeping trash cans cleaned out and throwing away old magazines, or anything else that doesn't directly pertain to business operation".

After after a short read, yes, there are a lot of rules. Which mostly include constant cleaning, wiping down, and a host of other things that have to be done when a customer leaves, and before another one enters.

And until further notice, everything is done by appointment only- sorry, no walk ins. Which certainly will be the case for most every other similar business in Missouri as we pass through Phase 1 of the reopening which will last through the end of May.

As an 'informal inspection' goes, we'd have to say this business passed. And we are sure this is the case for other Bates county businesses as we work our way through the COVID19 pandemic.

This reporter doesn't miss a lot of meals...so we'll visit and report on a local restaurant next...
