Around 8:45 pm on Wednesday, a deputy with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Unit attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of E. 275th and Belle Plain Road south of Harrisonville.
The driver refused to stop and continued speeding away from the deputy. A second Criminal Apprehension Unit Deputy in the area was able to successfully Grapple the vehicle near East 296th and Hess Road stopping the vehicle. The driver then fled on foot into a field and was captured by deputies moments later.
The driver, Ashly J. Hampton, 36, Blairstown, was arrested and transported to the Cass County Jail for Resisting Arrest by Fleeing and Driving While Revoked. A female passenger was questioned and released.
Mr. Hampton was released from the Cass County Jail today with no warrant issued.
