Bates County Health Center has confirmed 3 new COVID-19 cases in Bates County.Case #1—this individual, a male in his 30’s from Adrian, is a household contact of a current positive case. He has been in quarantine since the household member was determined to be positive. He will remain in isolation until released.
Case #2—this individual, a female in her 20’s from Adrian, who has been and remains asymptomatic, had been on quarantine following exposure to a positive case and was given a date that quarantine would end based on her last exposure to the positive case.
According to CDC guidance this individual who worked critical infrastructure was able to return to work while awaiting test results as she had no symptoms. Although she was cleared by CDC guidelines and because there was a long delay in receiving test results, we felt we should advise of a very SLIGHT risk of community exposure on the following dates and locations:
Adrian Little League Football sign-ups: July 12, 2020
Adrian Bank main branch: July 13 & morning of July 14
During our investigation, we have found that many safeguards were in place at both of these locations which would decrease the possible exposure even more. Unless you feel that you were within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more with an individual that is positive for COVID-19 you are at very low risk.

With our numbers for Bates County rising, we hope everyone will continue to practice social distancing, clean/disinfect any high touched surfaces, wash their hands with soap and water routinely, use hand sanitizer if soap and water is not available and avoid touching your face (especially eyes, nose & mouth). Wearing a mask in public is also encouraged. It is up to each and every one of us to stop the spread of this disease!
