Bates County Health Center has confirmed more positive cases of COVID-19 in Bates County.
Case #1—female in her 80’s from Rich Hill. This individual is hospitalized in Kansas City at this time.
Case #2—male in his 50’s from Hume.
Case #3—male in his 20’s from Butler.
Case investigation and contact tracing has been implemented on all 3 cases and close contacts including household members, co-workers and any other close contacts have been advised of quarantine guidelines. Please keep in mind that as we are doing investigation, the individual may not remember everyone they were in close contact with so if you are aware of a positive case and feel you were in contact with them, do not hesitate to call us so we can work through the timeline and contact conditions with you to determine your risk.
Please remember if there is no risk for any community transmission found through the investigation, nothing is released.
At times, depending on date of onset of symptoms an individual may be nearing the end of their isolation period once they get tested and results are received, therefore our active case numbers may change quickly.
All individuals advised of need for isolation and quarantine are per CDC guidelines.
At this time, Bates County has had 33 positives cases, 8 of which are currently active.
With our numbers for Bates County rising, we hope everyone will continue to practice social distancing, clean/disinfect any high touched surfaces, wash their hands with soap and water routinely, use hand sanitizer if soap and water is not available and avoid touching your face (especially eyes, nose & mouth). Wearing a mask in public is also encouraged. It is up to each and every one of us to stop the spread of this disease!
