Death Investigation in Cass County after body found burnt in vehicle at Ray-Pec School

Cass Co – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is currently assisting the Peculiar Police and Office of the State Fire Marshall in a death investigation that occurred at the Ray-Pec High School overnight.

Around 1:30 am, Cass County Investigators were requested to assist the Peculiar Police Department on the scene of a car fire in the Ray-Pec High School parking lot at 20801 S. School Road, Peculiar. Investigators discovered a vehicle parked in the parking lot partially burnt and the body of a victim inside. The vehicle was not involved in an accident.

The Medical Examiner’s Office of Frontier Forensics is assisting to determine the cause of death and identifying the victim. Investigators do not suspect foul play.
