Obituary - Harold "Hap" Amos Strouse Sr.

Harold "Hap" Strouse, age 89, Clinton, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Truman Lake Manor. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 10, 2020 at 2PM at Vansant-Mills Chapel including a Masonic Service with visitation one hour prior.

A private family burial will follow at Englewood Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Clinton Masonic Lodge #548 and may be left in care of the funeral home. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.vansant-millsfuneralhome.com.

Harold Amos “Hap” Strouse, was called home to be with the Lord on June 28th, 2020, with family by his side. Hap was born on April 12th, 1931, in Reynoldsville, PA, the son of Eugene and Mildred Anne (Fink) Strouse. He was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School

On September 3, 1949, Hap married his best friend, Belva Jean (Vandervort) They began their family in Rockton, Pennsylvania before moving to Clinton, Missouri, where they have lived in the Apple Orchard for over 50 years. He was blessed with 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren that were the highlight of his life.

Hap was a man of many talents, working in the coal mines of Pennsylvania, selling insurance, driving a truck for Clearfield and IGA grocery store and operating a successful mowing business until he officially retired. Not one to sit around, after retirement he would occasionally give out product samples in local grocery stores, where everyone that he met was a friend-winning hearts with his big smile and hearty laugh.

Hap had many hobbies throughout the years. He enjoyed whittling, sandblasting, metal detecting, bee keeping and most recently, technology.

He was a dedicated member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #548.

Hap and Belva loved having company. In recent years Hap became very tech savvy and a visit to their home would always result in a visit to the “office” to see his latest gadgets and pictures of family from near and far. He was also known to empty the refrigerator for a “snack” so you would stay a little while longer.

Hap is survived by his loving wife of 72 year, Belva; children; Harold Amos (Lisa) Strouse Jr “Tobe,” Thomas LaMar (Sheri) Strouse,), Randy Lee Strouse and Lori Lynn (Gary) Haupt; grandchildren; Josh Strouse, Seth Strouse, Hayli Beebe, Thomas (Jen) Strouse, Dillon (Tiffany) Strouse, Cassie Lamb, Casey (Andrea) Strouse, Cody (Angelina) Strouse, Clayton (Brittany) Radford and Makala Radford; great grandchildren; Aidan, Addi, Mason, Truman, Taylar, Sidney, Karson, Kannon, Kendrick, Ava, Blayne, Isla Rose, Connor and Emma; his sister Pam Brown, and many nieces and nephews that lovingly referred to him as “Uncle Joke.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Mildred, his brother John at birth, 2 sisters, Marie Wise and Dora Barr, his beloved brother in law, and great-grandson Aidan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home, Clinton.
