The funeral service for Nona will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 4, 2020 at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri.
Visitation will be preceding the service from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. The minister officiating at the service will be Pastor Harry Cooper.
Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. following the service, at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at the funeral home.
Norna Helen Cooper, age 86 passed away peacefully on August 30, 2020 at her home in rural Bates County, Missouri. She was the daughter of John Lee and Helen (Gilbert) Moore, born on December 6, 1933. Norna spent her formative years in the Alta Loma, Texas area, where she graduated from High School in 1952. After completing her education, she met George Cooper and they were married in 1958, moving to French Village, Illinois. To this union four children were born: Penny, George Jr, Julia, and Harry. After extensive traveling with George’s construction career, the family then relocated to the Appleton City area, where they bought their farm and remained there the rest of their lives.
Norna’s family was the most important thing to her, especially her children and grandchildren. She worked hard taking care of her kids, washing clothes, cooking meals, and makings sure life was fun. Babysitting most of her grandchildren remained one of her most cherished actives. Apart from her family, gardening and sewing were her favorite two hobbies. Norna was a devout Christian that served her lord with her whole heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Lee and Helen (Gilbert) Moore; and her husband, George Cooper.
Survivors include: two sons, George E. Cooper, Jr. and Harry Cooper; two daughters, Penny Grechus and Julie Smith; one brother Albert Moore; 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and great friends. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
