He was born July 3, 1940 to Lester Golden and Bonnie Newman Alexander Grainger in Parkville, Missouri.
Carl is survived by his brother, Harold Grainger and wife Barbara of Butler, Missouri; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Edith Rinehart; nieces, Tammy Riddel and Jessica Lee Ann Evans; and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Norma Grainger.
