Dorothy M. “Dottie” Manes, 68, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Saturday afternoon, October 17, 2020 at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. She was born January 25, 1952 in Nevada, Mo., the daughter of John Melvin Lee Hobbs and Helen Fern (Sallee) Hobbs.
She married James R. Manes, Sr., on January 30, 1970 in Nevada, Mo. He survives of the home. Dottie was a lifelong caregiver. She had daycare in her home for many years. The last 20 plus years she has been a home health aide, caring for people in their homes.
She enjoyed camping, playing goofy golf, and playing and singing in her band, the Dottie and The Family Tradition band, where she was lead singer and played rhythm guitar. She mostly enjoyed being with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. For many years her and Jim contracted with the Army Corps of Engineers as custodians at Bucksaw Campground, and later were park attendants for Sparrowfoot Campground. In addition to her husband, surviving are three sons, Jim Manes, Jr., and wife Christy, Aurora, Mo., John Manes and wife Misty, Clever, Mo., and Jeremy Manes and wife Kathleen, Republic, Mo.; one daughter, Amanda “Baby Girl” Dutton, and husband Dan, Clinton, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Jones, Nevada, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, Brittany Douglas; two great-grandsons, Teagen Lee Baldwin and Kayden Randall Douglas; and one sister, Helen Hillier. Graveside service and interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Englewood Cemetery.
