Judy was born in Kansas City, Kansas on August 29, 1942 to Clarence and Edith (Marr) Hickam. She grew up in Independence and was married to Bob Goff in December 1964. During her early career she worked at Hallmark and enjoyed involvement in many special projects and events while she was there including , Kaleidoscope, the Soviet Sports Exhibit in the 1980’s, and working on several publications.
Some of her proudest moments there were researching the biography of Joyce Hall and serving as an archivist during the Hyatt Skywalk disaster. She also wrote freelance articles for Kansas City Magazine including one about the Kansas City Fire Department where she met her second husband Bill Germann.
They married in 1977 and moved to a farm west of Harrisonville, Missouri where they raised pigs. Never one to shy from a new adventure Judy jumped right in and learned all there was to know about trail riding, farm life and living with baby pigs in your kitchen! Following a move “to town” Judy began selling real estate in Cass County. She continued this for over 20 years. In 1995 she remarried Bob and moved across the country to Morehead City, North Carolina where she embraced her love of watercolors and began to paint and teach art classes.
She helped start a Coop Art Gallery and enjoyed beach life. In 2000, she and Bob returned to Raymore to be closer to family. She entered the Raymore political scene and served on city council and the planning and zoning commission.
She will be remembered for her deep commitment to working passionately to make Raymore a better place. She and Bob opened The Frame Shop and she continued to teach art lessons and was known to her customers for her dedication and care of their precious keepsakes.
Declining health led her to Raymore Rehab where she lived for 8 years and developed a reputation for her spunk and vitality. Remembered by her friends for her strength, wit, determination and kindness she will be missed.
She leaves to cherish and miss her greatly her children Mary Beth and her wife Kathy Jones of Carbondale, Illinois and her son J. Phillip Goff and his wife Sydney of Overland Park, Kansas and her loving grandchildren of whom she was immensely proud; Andrew and Maya Jones and Jeffrey and Emmy Goff. She is also survived by a sister Carol Miller (Dan) and a brother Ted Hickam (Dee) and nieces and nephews Sam and Vicki Miller and LeeAnn Constant and Michael Hickam.
