From the desk of Bates County Coroner Greg Mullinax

On Friday, May 7, 2021 at around 9:43am I was called by Butler Police to a residence on East Fort Scott Street in Butler. A deceased person had been found in a residence following a wellbeing check.

At this time, I believe family notifications are still occurring and for that reason I will withhold decedent's name at present.

There is no indication of foul play, and investigation as to cause of death is underway at this time. I will provide updates as available.
