When officers arrived on scene they observed a female on the front porch with a gun in her hand. Deputies gave numerous commands to drop the weapon, however as the female pointed the firearm at the deputies, one deputy fired his service pistol, striking the female in the torso.
The female was transported by Garden City Emergency Services with critical injuries to a local hospital where she passed away from her injuries.
The Western Missouri Sheriff’s Office Critical Response Team, composed of deputies from Cass, Henry, and Bates, are investigating the shooting.
