Precautionary Boil Advisory for the city of Butler

The City of Butler is issuing a precautionary boil advisory for all customers of the water utility system. This includes the City of Butler and the following Bates County Public Water Supply Districts: #1, #3, #4, and #6.

The boil advisory has been issued due to low pressure caused by a water main break on a transmission line from the Water Plant, and will be in effect until further notice. The leak has been located and is being fixed.

Local health authorities recommend that consumers take the following precaution during boil advisories:

Boil water vigorously for three (3) minutes prior to use for cooking or drinking, and disinfecting dishes by immersing them for at least one (1) minute in water containing one (1) teaspoon of unscented household bleach to each gallon of water.

Thank you for your patience regarding this matter, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
