Obituary - Thomas Earl Williams, Sr.

Thomas Earl Williams, Sr., 91, of Ft. Scott, KS, formerly of Bronaugh, MO, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, MO. Earl was born on March 4, 1930 in Walker, MO to John Henry and Jessie Alice (Tons) Williams. He married Marvlyn Rose Shearburn on May 2, 1956 in Bronaugh, MO and she survives of the home in Ft. Scott.

Earl attended school in Bronaugh. At age 17 he joined the U.S. Army and worked for 21 months in General McArthur's office. After the service he farmed for a time then worked for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, MO retiring after 35 years. Following retirement, they came back to Bronaugh.

Earl was active in Boy Scouts for a number of years and coached Little League Baseball. He was an avid fisherman. He and Marvlyn volunteered for ARM (Amnerican Rehabilitation Ministry) for prison inmates.

In addition to his wife Marvlyn of 69 years, survivors include his children, Marcia Peppers (Mike), Lynn Valley, KS, Chris Williams (Christine), Oak Grove, MO, Cindy Hall (Jim), Kansas City, KS, and Thomas Earl Williams Jr., Lee's Summit, MO; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Larry Shearburn (Lisa), Farmington, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters and a great-grandson, Caleb Cross.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Worsley Cemetery, , Bronaugh. The family will receive friends on Tuseday, August 17, 2021 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
