Obituary - Bernice Allyene Brownsberger

There will be a private family memorial service for Allyene in January. Inurnment will follow the service in Appleton City Cemetery. Anyone wishing to sign the book of remembrance for Allyene's family may do so at Hill & Son Funeral Home. The family requests any memorial donations be made to Appleton City Cemetery and they may be left at the funeral home.

Bernice Allyene Brownsberger, age 100, of Springfield, Missouri passed away December 12, 2021 at Magnolia Square in Springfield, Missouri.

Allyene was born September 15, 1921 to Clyde and Georgia Mae (Jones) Kelly in Appleton City, Missouri. After graduating from Appleton City High School in 1939 an aunt left her $800 to attend the Kansas City School of Nursing where she earned her registered nurse degree.

Allyene married Robert Hinkle Brownsberger on December 22, 1944 in Kanas City, Missouri. She lived where Bob was stationed while he was in the Navy, and then through medical school. In 1952 they returned to Appleton City to start a medical practice.

After retirement Allyene and Bob enjoyed traveling in their motor home. Allyene really enjoyed ragtime music and for many years attended the Scott Joplin Festival in Sedalia, Missouri.

In 1991 Allyene moved to Destin, Florida then relocated to Springfield, Missouri after more than 25 years of living in Florida.

Allyene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a half-brother Lloyd Dean Kelly and a son Brian Brownsberger.

Survivors include four sons: Bill and Geraldine of Appleton City, Greg and Mary Ann Brownsberger of Benton, Louisiana, Barry and Marilyn, and Mark and Cathy of Springfield; one daughter Carmen and Gayland Fix of Butler, Missouri; one daughter-in-law Carmen Brownsberger of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; 15 grandchildren: Gennifer and Brad Fischer, Scott and Katy Brownsberger of Appleton City, Willie and Rachel Brownsberger of Kansas City, Matt and Amber Brownsberger of Appleton City, Brenda Brownsberger of Tequesta, Florida, Seth and Casey Brownsberger of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Ashley and Ryan Bell of Springdale, Arkansas, Walker and Jennifer Fix and Tyler Fix of Hico, Texas, Austin Fix of Kansas City, Kyle Brownsberger of Blanchard, Louisiana, Aric and Kathryn Brownsberger of Shreveport, Louisiana, Evan Brownsberger of Blanchard, Louisiana, Allye and Cole Hughes, and Zac and Andie Brownsberger of El Dorado Springs; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Allyene will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
