Obituary - James “Jim” Lester Suiter

James “Jim” Lester Suiter, 77, of Osceola, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Jim was born January 22, 1944, to Grace and Lester Suiter in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1962.

Jim’s career life was spent mostly in the area of transportation. He started “at the bottom” with Union Pacific Railroad and climbed all the way to engineer. He also spent 3 years as a train dispatcher in Kansas City. After leaving the railroad, Jim had several jobs in the trucking industry, then bus driving and most recently as a driver for OATS. He loved that position as he was able to talk with his clients and really get to know them.

Jim and his wife Marti joined Vista Baptist Church in 2001 and have been very active in that ministry. Jim taught a men’s Sunday School class, which was his reason for really studying the Bible. He was also in the choir singing bass, and that was really his happiest moments, when he was singing gospel songs.

Jim is survived by his wife Marti of the home, six children: Mike and wife Susie, Michelle Cavanaugh, Paula (Mike) Lesley, Jamie and partner Neil Okerbloom, James, and Kymberlee. Three stepsons: Timothy Buckner, Christopher Buckner and Kyle Buckner. Honorary son: Brian Thompson. 12 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister: Janet Stueve, and brother: David Suiter, as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends.

He will be missed by all!

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home.
