Butler crowns first State Wrestling Champion in 26 years!

An exciting weekend as Butler High School crowned its first wrestling champion in 26 years!

Junior Brendin Patrick won the Class 1: 152lbs State Wrestling Championship over the weekend in Columbia with a impressive 7-0 decision victory in the finals over a tough senior from Valle Catholic Josh Bieser who had a impressive record of 47-2 and a runner up at state in previous years.

Brendin wrestled amazing the whole tournament and really showed his strong and hard work ethic. Not only a great athlete but a very humble and smart young role model for our youth!

Brendin finishes this season with a undefeated 34-0 record and he is no stranger to Missouri State Wrestling finals, he has won 3rd place his Freshman year, 2nd place his Sophomore year and now 1st his Junior year its almost a sure he will be the favorite to repeat as Champion next season.

The last Butler Bears to win a State Wrestling Championship was Tony Brown and Clayton Varns both in 1996.

When we spoke to Brendin yesterday we asked him how he felt the day after his victory " He says he is still trying to take it all in and he was very pleased and honored to represent his school, himself and his community at a high level".

Brendin is the son of Mike and CJ Patrick.
