Obituary - Monica Lynn Dabbs

Monica Lynn Dabbs, 66, Garden City, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at her home in Garden City. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are welcomed and appreciated to American Lung Association.

Monica was born January 22, 1956 in Harrisonville, MO, a daughter of Eura and Doris Ellen (Cummings) Keeney, Jr. She was a 1974 graduate of Harrisonville High School. She was involved in various activities, such as Rainbow girls, fishing, swimming, skiing and boating at the family cabin in the Lake of the Ozarks. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville. She married the love of her life and best friend, Bill Gene Dabbs on June 25, 1988 in Grandma Gladys’ front room. She grew up in Harrisonville and had lived in Adrian, MO, Merwin, MO, Drexel, MO, and Louisburg, KS, before moving to Garden City in 2017.

Over the years, they moved to various locations while pursuing their passions and careers together as a graphic designer and working in customer service. Together, she and Bill enjoyed square dancing and their many friends. She never knew a stranger. She loved collecting antiques, crafting and making jewelry, and had a passion for culinary and cuisine of all types. She loved all of her nieces, nephews, and friends, always making time for each one.

Monica was preceded in death by her grandparents, her father, Eura Keeney, Jr, and a niece, Haley May Shaw. She is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home; her mother, Doris “Doie” Ellen Keeney, Climax Springs, MO; two brothers, Michael Keeney and Mark Keeney, both of Climax Springs, MO; one sister, Marla Shaw (Brent), Haleyville, AL; two nieces, Michelle Woolery (Brian) and Mariah Boyer (Luke); and four nephews, Garret Keeney, Darrel Keeney (Caitlin), Kaleb Shaw (Carly), and Kolt Shaw.
