Obituary - Neill Cox

Neill Cox, 78, Peculiar, MO, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 at his home. At Neill’s request, no services are scheduled.

Neill was born October 16, 1943 in Kansas City, MO, a son of Elbert “Al” and Dorothy (Putthoff) Cox. He was a 1960 graduate of Southeast High School in Kansas City, MO. He received his BA in History from Central Missouri State in Warrensburg, MO in 1965. On August 14, 1965, he married Linda Lee Sutton in Kansas City, MO. Neill lived in Kansas City in his youth, and he and Linda raised a family in South Kansas City. In 1999, Neill and Linda moved to Peculiar. Neill built the house with his son, Kevin.

From 1970-1978, Neill taught Industrial Arts at Raytown South High School. Most of his professional career was spent with Rodrock Development in Overland Park, KS. Neill was the Construction Manager, and he retired in 2010. He was on the Peculiar, MO Planning & Zoning Committee for several years. Neill enjoyed golfing, fishing, car racing, cheering on his grandkids and their friends in athletics and activities, and spending time with his family. He was well-known by many for his sense of humor.

Neill was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Cox. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; two sons: Kevin Cox (Rachel), Lee’s Summit, MO and Sean Cox, Kansas City, MO; two daughters: Tina Graef (Scott), Harrisonville, MO and Michele Burris (Mike), Adrian, MO; one sister, Diane Youngren (Jack), Huntsville, AL; a sister-in-law, Bev Rhodes (Les), Holden, MO; five grandchildren: Ashlee Burris, Carson Graef, Drew Burris, Mackenna Graef, and Alexis Cox; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
