One arrested in Bates County

On February 23, 2022 a Deputy took a report of a burglary that occurred in Amoret, MO. The property owner found the garage door was open and her Father's Bass Tracker Boat and trailer had been stolen. 

Also missing from the garage was a Cub Cadent lawn mower and a 383 Stroker V-8 engine. The stolen items were valued at $20,500. The Deputy collected photographs and a statement from the victim. He then conducted an area canvass.
 
On February 24, 2022 a Deputy was dispatched to a gas station in Rich Hill regarding a suspicious person. The reporting party stated that the suspicious person was pulling a trailer that was holding a boat. 

When the Deputy arrived on scene he discovered that the boat matched the description of the stolen boat from the day before. The Deputy located the suspicious person inside the gas station who was identified as Kyle Morris (DOB 10/31/1974). 

The Deputy was able to positively identify the boat as being the one that was stolen from Amoret, MO. Morris was taken into custody. He was found to also have a bag inside his pocket that contained a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana. Also in his pocket was a jar that contained a white crystal substance that tested positive for Methamphetamine.
 
Morris was charged with Possession of a controlled Substance, Burglary, Stealing and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bond was set at $30,000 cash or surety. He is currently being held in the Bates County Jail.
