General Leroy Goodwin was born on November 3rd, 1943 to John and Nona Shockley Goodwin.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Louise Goodwin. His beloved daughters, Dedrian and Jonnetta Goodwin. His son, John (Angie) Goodwin, stepsons Mark High, Sr. (Renne), Scott Oliver (Sharice) and his special son Michael Goodwin. He is also survived by his baby brother, Eldridge “Dick” Goodwin, and special Aunt Jewell Shockley of Holden, Missouri. His very special grandchildren: Rheaya, Kristofer, Keonna, Breonna, John, Josh, and Jace Goodwin. His step-grandchildren, Andre, Aaron and Mark High, Jr. and Donovan, and Gavin Oliver. His great-grandchildren, Kartyr and Kyson Goodwin. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Wallace “Billy” (Vickie) Goodwin, his sisters, Hattie M. Shockley, Shirley A. Wilson, and Thelma H. Goodwin “Bert”.
Leroy was employed with Kansas City Power and Light (KCPL) for 53 years and had recently retired in 2019. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and was a devoted fisherman for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was passionate about his faith and was a Co-Pastor at Mount Mariah Church in Calhoun, Missouri. LeRoy taught weekly Bible studies at the nursing homes, and he ministered to the sick and shut in.

He was the founder of Clinton Missouri’s Prayer on the Square and his outreach included the kids at Pathways and anyone else who was willing to listen to the Word. His prayers did not discriminate, he would pray for anyone, anytime, anyplace. He was a true Warrior for Christ and his family meant everything to him.
He had a contagious spirit and a smile that would brighten anyone’s day. Leroy touched so many lives, in so many ways, and he was a humble servant of the Lord. He was blessed with a beautiful voice, a quick wit, he was charming, a great listener, and had an all-around humble soul.
The principles he lived by were: LOVE, FAITH, FAMILY, and FORGIVENESS. He also believed in building bridges and maintaining close personal relationships with his friends, co-workers, neighbors, and his brothers and sisters in Christ. He will be greatly missed by all who he knew, loved, or were impacted by his generosity and kind spirit. God Bless you all.
