Obituary - Marvin E. Turley

Marvin E. Turley passed away on March 7, 2022, at his home in Osceola, Missouri, at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with cancer. His loving wife and daughter were at his side.

Born November 7, 1951, to Doris “Patch” and Wayne Turley in Kansas City, Missouri, Marvin served his country in the U.S. Army for nine years. He was a Merchant Marine, an SP4E4 Truck Driver, was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Sharp Shooter Award, and many other awards and commendations from the U.S. Department of the Army and the United States Army School – Europe. Marvin graduated from Perry Technical Institute in Yakima, Washington and began a long career as a mechanic.

Marvin met Penny in 1987 in Holton, Kansas. After a long courtship, they were married in Osceola, Missouri on June 3, 1995. They shared a love for Marvin’s daughters Serra and Dani. Together, they rescued countless animals – dogs, cats, deer and squirrels. Most recently they provided a loving home to their “kids” Sadie, Cooper and Mister, and all of the animals Marvin could not resist bringing home to love and care for.

Marvin was a beloved and devoted husband, father, son, brother, son-in-law, uncle and friend. He enjoyed fishing and bowling, had a generous love for all animals, was a lifetime fan of “The Duke” John Wayne and an avid collector of eagles. He spent much of his spare time on woodworking projects, especially those that would beautify the home he shared with his wife.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 33 years Penny J. Turley, daughters Serra A. Turley and Dani R. Turley-Andreason (Josh), Goddaughters/nieces Devan Quattromani (Cody) and Alex Spalding (Lauren), nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, father-in-law, three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his mother Doris “Patch“ Turley, father Wayne Turley, brother Gene Turley, mother-in-law Barbara Rummel and niece Charlene Litscher.

Marvin will be greatly missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing and working with him. He was hardworking, compassionate, strong and determined; he was truly one-of-a-kind.
